WINE CLASSES
Mondays, 6:00 pm
We believe wine should be for everyone—any occasion, any meal, any day of the week. It has a way of bringing people together, sparking conversation, evoking memories, and becoming part of our shared culture. And we love sharing that!
But let’s be honest—learning about wine can feel intimidating. That’s why we’re all about breaking down barriers and making wine education approachable, engaging, and free of the usual pretension.
With backgrounds in education, our in-house sommeliers lead classes at Walter’s Wine Shop, guiding tastings around our communal black walnut table. Sessions typically explore wine regions, grape varieties, and styles, but don’t be surprised if we dive into coffee, sake, beer, or whatever else catches our interest!
Classes are ticketed and last roughly 1 hour.
QUESTIONS? We've got answers.
Do I need a reservation to taste on Tuesdays?
Nope! Our Tuesday tastings are DROP IN only, so come on in any time after 5pm, and we'll get you set up. Our winemakers and other winery representatives are present from 5-7pm, so if you'd like to meet them, plan to arrive earlier in the evening.
If you want to bring a group of 5 or more to taste, we recommend making a reservation through our wine bar Upwell so you have a spot to sit and eat while you're here!
What does my wine class ticket cost cover?
Tickets for Monday wine classes are $40, which includes a $20 credit toward a retail bottle from Walter's.
The remaining ticket cost covers wines poured for the class plus teaching materials.
Are food and wine available during wine classes?
Our classes are seated with a presentation by our somms and a guided tasting. During this time, we do not offer food or glasses of wine.
If you'd like to join us for dinner ahead of a class, please arrive before 4:30pm as the kitchen closes at 4:45pm on class nights. You can see our current Monday night menu here.
Are food and wine available during Tuesday Tastings?
Yes! Our full dinner menu is available on Tuesdays from 3pm to 10pm. Visit our Upwell site to see current menus & make reservations from groups of 5 or more.
If you just want to taste and shop, we have space available for that as well!
