Gramercy Cellars 'Lower East' Cabernet Sauvignon
Gramercy Cellars 'Lower East' Cabernet Sauvignon
Gramercy Cellars
We don’t feature Washington wines nearly enough, and this bottle is a great reminder of how special things have been here for a long time. Gramercy Cellars was started by Greg Harrington, a sommelier who fell hard for Northern Rhône Syrah and came to Washington after realizing the state had the potential to make wines with that same soul. What began as a Syrah project quickly grew into one of the benchmarks for the region. This Cabernet has a little bottle age on it and is drinking beautifully right now — still full of ripe fruit, but with those savory notes starting to show up too: tobacco, mushroom, resinous herbs. These are wines that really come alive with food, especially something hearty and Northwest-y.
