Gross & Gross 'Jakobi' Sauvignon Blanc
Gross & Gross 'Jakobi' Sauvignon Blanc
Johannes Gross (Gross)
There are a handful of wines that are just totally explosive examples of the grapes that make them — they leap out of the glass, like that one friend who always brings the party when they show up. “Jakobi” is a collaboration between the Gross brothers (Johannes on the Austrian side of the border and Michael on the Slovenian side). It’s a remarkable tribute to centuries of agrarian tradition in the region, and the label itself is a woodcut-style pictograph that recounts the details of the vintage using iconography borrowed from traditional almanacs — the kind that used to hang in Johannes’ and Michael’s grandmother’s kitchen when they were boys.
We love it with… tangy goat cheese, grilled seafood, asparagus & pesto pasta
