Roucas Toumba
Eric Bouletin’s Roucas Toumba, which means the fallen rock in old Provençal dialect, is one of the top domaines in Vacqueyras, and this wine exemplifies the kind of wines our shop is built around. Priced just under $30 on the shelf, it tastes like it should cost far more. Vacqueyras sits just south of Gigondas and north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Southern Rhône, with stony, mineral-rich soils that echo its famous neighbors, making this a terrific way to enjoy Southern Rhône character at a more approachable price point. Ripe morello cherry, savory black olive, and stony minerality make this an excellent wine for hearty winter dishes.
