Vino Gross 'Hisno Vino'
Michael Gross (Vino Gross)
Hisno Vino, or “house wine” in Slovenian, is Michael Gross’ playground for fresh ideas. Each volume distinguishes itself from its predecessors and serves as a platform for successful experimentation. Vol. III smells distinctly Slovenian — which I [Jess] realize means absolutely nothing to everyone else, but just go with me. There’s a rugged, dark-fruited, almost agrarian vibe that I get from Slovenian wines. Some of that is the Blaufränkisch, yes, but some of it also just has to be the terroir (or it’s all in my head — honestly, either is possible). No matter what exactly gives this wine its unique character, it’s pretty easy to like. Medium-bodied, iron-like minerality, herbaceous, with brambly blackberry. Exceptionally delish with sausages (are you surprised? lol).
We love it with… Sausages, racelette
