No.21: WA Wine Month -- Rhône Whites
Monday, August 4th, 6:00pm

Do you know that August is Washington wine month? Do you know that the most planted variety in Washington is Cabernet Sauvignon? Do you like drinking Cabernet in August? I know I don't! Join me in celebration of the unexpected by experiencing what I think Washington really excels at - Rhône varieties.

There's more than Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre that comes out of the Rhône as it's a super diverse viticultural landscape, producing white wines that span from rich & opulent to salty & crunchy. Washington's climate isn't too dissimilar from that of the Mediterranean where these varieties bask in the sun and radiate it in the glass. We'll taste some of the icons, some up and comers, and learn a bit about this exciting sub-culture of Washington wine.

No.22: Yakima Valley
Monday, August 18th, 6:00pm

Yakima Valley was Washington’s first AVA — and it remains one of the most diverse and dynamic wine regions in the state. In this class, we’ll travel east to west across the valley, from warm, sun-drenched slopes to cooler, high-elevation vineyards. Along the way, we’ll taste iconic wines from historic sites (think Red Willow and Snipes Mountain), as well as find some new producers pushing Yakima’s boundaries today.
