Join us for a rare opportunity to experience the newest project from Christophe Baron, one of Washington’s most respected and influential winemakers. Founder of Cayuse Vineyards and Horsepower Vineyards, Christophe was one of the first to plant vines in what he calls “the Stones” — a distinctive, stony corner of the Walla Walla Valley now officially known as The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater AVA. It’s a place renowned for producing some of the most expressive and singular Syrahs in the world.

A native of France’s Marne Valley and the eldest son of the centuries-old Champagne house Baron Albert, Christophe’s winemaking roots run deep. Horsepower Vineyards represents a return to those origins — where simplicity, tradition, and hands-on farming reign. True to its name, all vineyard work is still done by horse, a practice his family continued in Champagne as recently as 1957.

In this seminar, Jeff Von Bargen, Cayuse and Horsepower’s first national sales manager, will lead us through the history of Cayuse and Horsepower, the uniqueness of the Stones, and the traditional, low-intervention farming and winemaking philosophies behind these highly sought-after wines.

We’ll taste 7 wines, including selections from the current 2022 vintage release, a vertical of 2021 and 2022, and a special library selection to see how these wines evolve over time.

This is a can’t-miss evening for serious wine lovers, Washington wine collectors, and anyone curious about the intersection of old-world tradition and new-world terroir. These wines are limited and typically reserved for those already in the know — we’re excited to offer this rare and approachable opportunity to experience some of Washington’s most collectible and compelling bottles.

$62/ seat - includes light bites, a tasting flight, and a $30 credit toward a Horsepower bottle purchase
